Wyrd Sisters - Wadham Players - Willow Cottage
The theatre in the glen at Curtis Mill Green was a perfect
setting for Wadham Players to stage Terry Pratchett's Wyrd
Sisters.
The clever adaptation by Stephen Briggs was fully exploited
by the team. A knowledge of the Scottish Play was an essential
to enter into the Discworld series where witches and dukes act
out the familiar plot, and where magic and mystery are part of
everyday life. Obviously the three witches controlled the events
of this pantomime.
Elaine Elliott proved a worthy leader, followed dilligently
by Ann Housden and Suzanne MacPherson. They all starred by their
ability to create three extremely witty characters. The large
cast boasted many seasoned actors, Keith Cummings, June Gray,
Bob Pamplin, Danny Macbeth, Bob Gray and Kathy Hutton. All were
in top form and David Reed impressed as the playwright.
All the principals and those in support displayed a
remarkable attachment to the project and the Strolling Players,
Robbers, Witches and so on integrated into the game with easy
confidence. Timing and sound effects were another good feature,
and combined with costumes of quality and colour, made this a
memorable production not only for the director Michael Michael
but for the entire company.
